Like some other range hood manufaturers, IKTCH provides a very generous 10-year warranty on their range hood motors, as well as a 5-year warranty on the switch control and LEDs.

The IKTCH ‎IKC01-36 ‎not only comes with a remote control, but it is also equipped with two gesture sensors, which will allow you to control your range hood without having to touch it. When preparing and cooking food you will undoubtedly get greasy fingers. The gesture control function will prevent you from smudging the controls. Although this sounds like an interesting feature, we honestly feel it’s either a hit or a miss, depending on your personal situation. If your cabinets are positioned relatively low or if you’re a tall person, you might accidentally turn your range hood on/off just by walking past it or by moving your head, as it might activate the gesture control. To turn it off you will have to contact the manufacturer, as it involves removing the circuit board from the back and taping over the sensors.

Please note that it’s not possible to directly connect the IKTCH ‎IKC01-36 to a round duct. The only way to connect it is through a rectangular vent on the top or at the rear of the range hood, which can then connect to a 6 inch round duct.

We’re glad to see Broan-NuTone is giving people the option to convert this ducted under cabinet rangehood into a ductless model. Seeing as not everyone has the option to install a ducted range hood, installing these charcoal filters (sold separately) will do just that. By converting your range hood into a ductless model, rather than transporting the cooking smells and fumes out of your kitchen they will cleaned by passing them through the charcoal filter and recirculated back into the kitchen.

The Broan-NuTone BCSQ130SS isn’t without its faults. To keep the price low, Broan-NuTone has stripped the model of any extras. We’re not talking about a fancy touch screen display or certain features. At this price point we weren’t expecting any of those. We’re referring to some of the basic stuff which is usually included with the purchase of a range hood. For instance, in most cases under cabinet range hoods come with a plug to plug it into a socket. This model, however, will need to be hardwired. If you would like to convert it into a model with a plug you will need to purchase it separately. Or how about the lack of a damper. If you are planning to connect the range hood through the round duct on top of the model, you’ll want to connect it to a damper (to keep the hot/cold air, debris and small animals/insects out). This damper is sold separately. All in all, we can’t blame Broan-NuTone for these decisions, though we would’ve preferred it if they were a bit more upfront about it.

Exterior-wise, it is an amazingly beautiful under cabinet range hood. Its brushed stainless steel outer shell with its rounded corners give off a classy feel, which would be a great fit for both a modern and a classic kitchen. Under the hood this under cabinet range hood is no slouch either, as it houses a 650 CFM dual motor which will be more than enough for virtually any North American home.

Based in Arcadia, California, KOBE is known for their high quality and quiet kitchen ventilation products, with an emphasis on ‘quiet.’ Noise reduction is of such importance to KOBE that they have made it their motto: “So Quiet… You Won’t Believe It’s On!” This is done through their patented QuietMode™ function, which lets you operate the range hood at 300 CFM with minimal noise pollution of around 1.2 sones (42 dB). The KOBE CHX9136SQB-1 is an absolutely amazing piece of machinery, but similar to last year, KOBE seems to have focussed on getting the fundamentals right rather than offering a feature-packed range hood. This makes the KOBE CHX9136SQB-1 a bit light on the feature side of things. For instance, where other range hoods in this price range come with are equipped with a touch screen, the KOBE CHX9136SQB-1 comes with push buttons. This combined with the relatively hefty price tag, the KOBE CHX9136SQB-1 earns a well-deserved third place, but is edged out by our pick for the number two spot on our top 5 of the best under cabinet range hoods of 2023.

Second place in our top 5 best under cabinet range hood of 2023 goes to none other than the XtremeAir PX12-U36 (as well as the XtremeAir PX12-U30, which is the 30″ model). With this beast of an under cabinet range hood, XtremeAir has once again set the standard. We’re glad XtremeAir opted for an LCD touch screen rather than physical buttons. Not only does it add to the modern feel and is it easier to clean, the inclusion of a touch screen generally means more features. For instance, the programmable shut-off function will let you automatically shut off the range hood for up to 15 minutes, which will ensure that all the lingering smells and aerosolized oil particles will have been removed after you’ve left the kitchen. If that’s too much of a hassle, the XtremeAir PX12-U30 also comes with a remote control.

The PX12-U30 isn’t just for show. Its two centrifugal motors have a combined power of a whopping 900 CFM; motors XtremeAir has so much faith in, they are willing to provide a 10-year motor limited warranty. (With such great power comes the responsibility to provide makeup air.) The PX12-U30 isn’t as loud as you’d expect. With around 6 Sones (55 dB), which is the loudness of a normal conversation, we’d say it is quite reasonable for such a powerful range hood.

The XtremeAir PX12-U30 is not for everyone. Its sleek design, powerful 900 CFM motors and amazing warranty come at a price. This under cabinet range hood isn’t cheap. However, quality comes at a price. The XtremeAir PX12-U30 is for people who are serious about cooking; people who desire quality, and are willing to pay for it. Given the quality of this range hood, its power, and the incredible 10-year motor limited warranty, we’d say the price is more than justified.
