The 430 grade stainless steel exterior is an above average choice, while the design is modern and has a premium feel. Choosing a quality brand name like BROAN-NuTone not only means that you can expect a certain quality, but also that spare parts will be available if needed.

Understandably, some people prefer buttons over a touch screen. Buttons are generally easier to operate, as every button has one simple function. This is where the BWP2306SS ‘s touch-sensitive backlit buttons shine. While active, a blue border surrounding the button will light up, so it’s immediately visible which button is active. It might not sound impressive, but it makes things so much easier.

We did find the BROAN-NuTone BWP2306SS to be relatively noisy on its highest setting, especially when compared to competitors. In part, this is due to the large amount of air it moves. (The higher the second number, the better the quality.) However, we would have loved to see at least 18-gauge stainless steel being used for the Cosmo 63175S. (The lower the number, the thicker the steel.) Then again, if a thinner exterior will keep the price low, it’s fine by us.

Cosmo proudly proclaims that their customer support is located in the good ol’ U.S. of A., which is preferrable for a lot of people. Though we have to admit that we haven’t had to contact them, having an American customer support makes things easier a lot of the times. The install is quite easy, and quite doable for the average person. The 3-year limited warranty is also quite reasonable. All in all, the Cosmo 63175S will give you a lot of value for your money. Although it might sound a bit gimmicky, we found it to be really useful. When preparing food you will regularly find yourself with stained hands. With gesture control, you don’t have to smudge the LCD touch screen or remote control with your sticky fingers. Depending on the height of your range hood, some people have found the gesture control to be a tad too sensitive. Their range hoods turned on simply by walking by. (We haven’t experienced this.) Sadly, there’s no way to adjust the sensitivity. You can, however, turn off the gesture control entirely, but this requires some effort and isn’t a great solution. (You will have to remove the circuit board on the control panel and cover both sensors with black tape.)
